Day 2 and duchess is doing FANTASTIC!
She is a hospital favorite. The nurses love her to bits. She is able to stand and walk almost unassisted (but they help anyways cuz thatâs their job). Having trouble laying down âgracefullyâ so we will help with that when she comes home. She is eating well. She is still wetting the bed and they feel that itâs not medical but more of a discomfort in peeing in front of people (she has been known to be shy about that stuff even at home). Since she has been eating she hasnât gone #2 yet but they wonât be concerned until the 48hr mark of no poops so still all good.
Tomorrow is the day! We will pick her up in the evening. She has been a champion. We havenât seen âthe woundâ yet as all pictures have been covered so I asked tomorrow if they change the bandage to please send a picture so we can prepare ourselves.
Yep, peeing in bed while drugged up…”normal”.
Not pooping uet… “normal”. And although the Bet mentioned 48 hrs, the reality of what we see around here is a poop can take anywhere from three to five days. I think the record was seven. If it becomes an issue after three plus days, you can try a teaspoon or two of NATURAL canned pumpkin.
Thanks for the update. Can’t wait for the homecoming!
Hugs
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
Hoorrraaaay! This is such a great pupdate, I’m so glad she’s rockin’ recovery. You have a terrific vet team looking out for her, she’ll be rearin’ to go home when you get her.
Ditto what Sally mentioned about sometimes poop taking longer. Stock up on that pumpkin pulp and metamucil and you can get things moving along.
Hang in there, she’s almost home!
